3 days-Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Established in 1952 under the British Colonial Government, the park was initially called Kazinga National Park. Later in 1954, the park was re-named Queen Elizabeth National Park as a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen of England when she visited the park that very year.

Covering a total size of 1978kmĀ², Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to about 95 mammal species and more than 600 recorded bird species. The park has the highest record mammal and bird species beating all the other nine National Parks and ten game reserves in Uganda. This park has a rich ecosystem with vegetation ranging from expansive Savannah grasslands, wetlands, and forests thus a variety of natural habitats for wildlife.

Chimpanzee Tracking - Travel Back to Kampala.
Watch the sunrise as rays beam over Queen Elizabeth N.P. plains, have an early breakfast, and check out. Join your driver/guide, and transfer to Kyambura Gorge to embark on a chimpanzee tracking activity. Kyambura connotes “I searched and failed to find”, indigenous people failed to find the source of water that flows in the gorge. The closet “cousins of man” (chimpanzees) live and wander in the thick forest on the banks of the gorge. Chimpanzee tracking here involves descending and ascending on the banks of the gorge. Apart from chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a hotspot for greater and lesser flamingos as well as the great Egret. Return to the staging area where you will join your driver and exit through the Kabatooro gate. Another stop at the Equator by Kikorongo Road for a photo opportunity. Continue and break for lunch at Fort Portal town (the only town with an English name). Take a leisurely but scenic ride over hills, down valleys, through tea plantations and trading centers back to Kampala. Drop-off and your residence in Kampala.
