9 Days Primates and Adventure

Meet and assist upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport and embark on transfer via Kampala City to Jinja. If time permits we’ll visit the Source of the Nile:

Nile is derived from a Greek word “Nelios” which literally means “river valley”! The Nile is credited for one of the greatest civilisations in human history. For centuries this mysterious river fed the great Egyptian civilisation with volumes of water and silt but the source remained unknown.  About 1862, John Speke, a great British Explorer reached the present day Jinja exposed to the rest of the world, the vivid source of the Nile.  Today, tourists get to take a motorized canoe and sail down to “Point Zero”; concrete demarcation that shows where the waters of the Nile leave those of L. Victoria and embark on their approximately 6000kms journey to the Med-Sea in Egypt.

Watch the sunrise in Jinja; the adventure capital of Uganda. Undergo briefing with snacks, get hold of a life jacket paddle and a water-helmet and rally behind your-allocated skipper/guide as he leads you to river.  Exciting, challenging, thrilling and absolutely worth it on the Mighty Nile River!! White Water Rafting on the White Nile is an exciting activity; one does not require prior experience to enjoy the activity.

Rafting on the White Nile ranges from grade three to grade five respectively. More experience rafters dare the roughest of rapids. A light lunch is served on the river and a barbecue dinner after the rafting. Retire and relax at your preferred lodging facility.

At 0600hrs pick-up from Jinja, drive via Kampala and proceed with a scenic ride through trading centers, villages, swamps and forests to Kibale Forest. After lunch, undergo briefing by your allocated guide and rally behind him/her on afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk.  Bigodi is community tourism project and the swamp is a haven for swamp-bird species, black and white colobus monkeys and red tailed monkeys and on rare occasions chimpanzees visit from the main Kibale Forest N.P. Overnight at  your preferred lodging facility.  Transfer Time: About 7hrs,

This early morning, wake-up and have breakfast, attend briefing by the Ranger-guide and enter the sanctuary to embark on your morning Chimpanzee tracking session. In addition to a large community of chimpanzees, there are 13 other primate species, including red and black-and-white colobus monkeys, l’Hoest’s, red-tailed, vervet and blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, olive baboons, as well as four species of nocturnal primates. The birdlife is prolific, with approximately 400 species recorded for the area. Highlights include the crested guineafowl, great blue turaco, grey parrot, green-breasted & African pitas, African crowned eagles and black bee-eaters. Break for lunch and then  exit Kibale and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park (3 hrs). The ride provides an occasion to see Crater Lakes and possibly the Great Rwenzori Mountains: Lunch, evening Game-drive. Lodging at your chosen facility.

Transfer Time: About 3hrs

Wake-up to the sounds of the nature, get on board and embark on a sunrise game-drive. The vast savannah plains, swamps and forests of Queen Elizabeth are home to about 95 mammals and over 600 bird-species. Look-out for lions, leopards, elephants, warthogs, bushbucks, cape buffaloes and waterbucks among others. We shall utilize a network of trails to access animal habitats and create more avenues for you to see and experience as much as nature shall make available.

After lunch, transfer to the pier/dock to arrive on time for your afternoon boat-ride on boat Kazinga Channel. A thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, Kazinga Channel is lifeline/habitat to Nile Crocodiles, arguably the highest concentration of Hippos on planet Earth, different species of Egrets, Goliath Herons, and Saddle – billed Storks, African Fish Eagles, Egyptian Gees and Cormorants among other bird species. The channel is a source of for Elephants, buffaloes and many other bird-species.  Return to the dock and exploit the remaining part of the day in the wild. Meals and bed at your preferred lodging facility.

Breakfast, check-out, sunrise game-drive as your transfer to the Ishasha section of Queen Elizabeth N.P. The southern circuit of Ishasha is famous for the tree-climbing lions thus you will have the occasion to catch glimpse of the great predators up in tree-branches. Follow meandering routes to access by the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to Kisoro town. Proceed to Cyanika border where you will go through immigration procedures. Continue to finally arrive Ruhengeri – Kinigi. Settle-in at your preferred lodging facility for the rest of the evening. Transfer time: About 7hrs.

Today is the long awaited day!! Early morning preparations for the activity, pack lunch, attend briefing by the Ranger-guide, get hold of a walking stick and follow the Ranger to the Sanctuary. It is imperative to respect and abide by the conservation rules therefore leave nothing but a footprint and take nothing but memories and photographs. Maximum time allowed with the fascination Gorillas is 1 hour. After gorilla tracking, return to Kinigi and attend a cultural dance performance. You may participate in the famous “Intore Dance”. Return to Mountain Gorilla View Lodge for superb comfort and mouthwatering meals. Return to your residence and nestle-in for the rest of the evening.

Misty and chilly morning in the backdrop of Virunga cones, wake-up, have breakfast, check-out and follow a snaking route  to Kigali – the capital of Rwanda. We shall have an occasion to explore the recently declared cleanest city in Africa. This city in the heart of Africa is revered as one of the fastest growing, organized and neatest Capitals in Africa. The tour covers ride around to see government and commercial blocks, local markets and shopping centers. The highlight of the tour is the visit to the Gisozi Genocide Museum. This where the earth speaks of the apex of human misery and indescribable brutality. Retire and relax at your preferred lodging facility in Kigali.

Morning at leisure, check-out and transfer to Kayibanda – Kanombe international airport to arrive on time for your onward flight out.
